Post-Treatment Care After Fractional Laser Therapy
After undergoing fractional laser therapy, the first day following treatment is considered day one. For the first five days, the treated area should not be washed with tap water. Instead, gently clean the surface using a cotton swab dipped in normal saline. Be careful not to remove any scabs, as this may damage the newly formed epithelium. After cleansing, apply a thin layer of MEBO (Moist Exposed Burn Ointment) two to three times daily.
By day six, the healing process should be well underway. Signs of healing include a dry and thin scab with no open sores. At this stage, you may resume normal washing routines. If scabs are still present after washing your face or taking a shower, continue with the previous care steps. Once the scabs naturally fall off, begin applying (or using patches with) scar treatment products as directed.
It is normal to experience redness, swelling, and minor oozing after the procedure. These symptoms typically subside within one to two days. If oozing persists beyond two days or if the scab appears thick, consult your assistant doctor immediately. Likewise, if redness lasts more than a week, professional advice should be sought.
Sun protection is essential after laser treatment to prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. However, if the scar appears pale or depigmented, your primary physician may advise you to stop sun protection measures temporarily. Be sure to follow the specific instructions provided by your doctor.
If you experience any discomfort or have questions during the recovery period, do not hesitate to contact your assistant doctor or schedule a follow-up visit at the clinic.
Please note that the care instructions provided are general and may vary depending on individual conditions. Your physician may provide personalized aftercare instructions based on your specific healing progress. Always follow the guidance tailored to your unique needs.
