The Location of the Stomach in the Human Body

The stomach is an organ located within the abdominal cavity, typically found in the upper abdomen. Its exact position can vary depending on an individual's body type, posture, and the degree of stomach fullness. In most cases, when the stomach is moderately filled, it is primarily situated in the left hypochondriac region, which is the upper-left part of the abdomen.

Most people experience stomach pain in the upper-left abdominal area, which corresponds to the general location of the stomach. However, in individuals who are particularly slim, a condition known as gastric ptosis may occur, where the stomach drops below the level of the iliac crests. This displacement might require medical attention or treatment in some cases.

While the stomach's position can vary slightly from person to person, it is generally positioned in the upper part of the abdomen, leaning toward the left side.
