The pathology of these metastatic tumors matches that of the original cancer, which means that while they are referred to as liver tumors, they are not classified as primary liver cancer.

Accurate diagnosis is crucial in liver cancer treatment. When liver cancer is suspected, doctors must determine whether the tumor is primary or metastatic and establish its clinical stage. This information guides the choice of treatment options. For early-stage liver cancer, surgical resection is often recommended, especially if liver function remains relatively healthy. In such cases, there is a potential for complete recovery.

In more advanced stages, a combination of treatment methods is typically used. These may include targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and interventional radiology techniques. These approaches aim to control tumor growth, manage symptoms, and improve quality of life for patients with intermediate to advanced liver cancer.
