Colon Cancer And Colitis Symptoms

Colitis often presents with symptoms such as fever, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. These signs are commonly seen in patients suffering from inflammatory conditions of the colon. On the other hand, early-stage colon cancer may not produce noticeable symptoms, making it difficult to detect without proper screening.

As colon cancer progresses, changes in bowel habits become more apparent. This includes variations in stool consistency, such as loose or unformed stools, and color changes like turning darker, black, or even red due to the presence of blood. Patients may also experience increased frequency, such as having bowel movements two to three times a day, or conversely, only every two to three days.

A significant indicator is the physical appearance of the stool. Tumors can cause narrowing or indentation in the stool shape. In more advanced cases, larger tumors may lead to the formation of a palpable mass, intestinal blockage, persistent abdominal discomfort, and rectal bleeding.
