Can Xiangsha Yangwei Pills Effectively Treat Reflux Esophagitis?

Xiangsha Yangwei Pills are not considered effective for treating reflux esophagitis. This traditional Chinese medicine formulation is primarily used to address conditions related to insufficient stomach yang, dampness obstruction, and qi stagnation. It is commonly prescribed for symptoms such as gastric discomfort, epigastric fullness, acid regurgitation, indigestion, and loss of appetite.

The pill contains key herbal ingredients like Aucklandia Root (Mu Xiang), Amomum Fruit (Sha Ren), Atractylodes Rhizome (Bai Zhu), Tangerine Peel (Chen Pi), Pinellia Rhizome (Ban Xia), and Cardamom Fruit (Dou Kou). These components work together to regulate digestion and relieve bloating, but they do not target the underlying causes of reflux esophagitis.

Reflux esophagitis typically requires treatments that reduce stomach acid production or strengthen the lower esophageal sphincter. Standard medical therapies include proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and H2 receptor blockers. Therefore, modern medicine does not recommend Xiangsha Yangwei Pills as a primary treatment for this condition.

While it may provide mild relief for some digestive discomforts, patients with confirmed reflux esophagitis should consult a healthcare provider for appropriate and evidence-based treatment options.
