Stomach Dry Pain – Understanding the Causes and Treatments

Stomach dry pain, commonly known as abdominal pain, can result from various underlying conditions. These causes are often categorized in traditional medicine as internal cold obstruction, damp-heat accumulation, food stagnation, blood stasis, and central deficiency with cold in the internal organs. Identifying the specific cause is essential for effective treatment.

Internal Cold Obstruction occurs when a person is exposed to cold temperatures, leading to abdominal discomfort. This type of pain is typically caused by cold pathogens blocking the abdominal region. Treatment usually involves warming the body and dispelling the cold. Medications such as Liang Fu Wan are commonly prescribed for this condition.

When individuals consume excessive spicy or greasy foods, Damp-Heat Accumulation may occur. This disrupts the spleen and stomach's ability to process fluids, resulting in symptoms like abdominal tenderness, constipation, and dark-colored urine. To address this issue, therapies that clear heat and regulate bowel function are recommended. Common treatments include Da Cheng Qi Tang and Ge Gen Qin Lian Tang.

Food Stagnation is another common cause of abdominal discomfort. It happens when digestion is impaired, causing food to accumulate in the gastrointestinal tract. Symptoms may include bloating, acid reflux, and relief of pain after bowel movements. Effective remedies for this condition include Zhi Shi Dao Zhi Wan and Bao He Wan.

Injuries or internal bleeding can lead to Blood Stasis Blockage, which often worsens at night due to poor circulation. This condition is typically treated with formulas like Shao Fu Zhu Yu Tang and Xue Fu Zhu Yu Tang to promote blood flow and relieve pain.

Lastly, Central Deficiency with Internal Cold is often seen in individuals with weak constitutions or those who frequently consume cold foods. This results in a lack of warmth and energy in the spleen and stomach, leading to chronic abdominal pain that improves with warmth and pressure. Recommended treatments include Xiao Jian Zhong Tang and Huang Qi Jian Zhong Tang.

Understanding these different causes and their respective treatments can help individuals seek appropriate care and manage abdominal discomfort effectively.
