Why Do I Still Experience Constipation Even When Drinking Plenty of Water?

Many people believe that simply increasing water intake will relieve constipation, but the truth is more complex. While water is essential for overall health, it's mostly absorbed in the small intestine before reaching the colon. So even if you're drinking large amounts of water, it might not reach the large intestine where it's needed most.

Consuming adequate amounts of vegetables, fruits, and high-fiber foods helps create bulk in the stool, which allows the body to retain the water you drink. This retained water then softens the stool and supports smoother bowel movements through the colon.
