How to Treat Premature Beats

There are mainly two approaches for treating premature beats:

Pharmacological Treatment

Medication is often prescribed based on the type and frequency of premature beats. Doctors may recommend antiarrhythmic drugs such as Amiodarone, Metoprolol (commonly known as Betaloc), Diltiazem, or Verapamil. In addition to conventional medications, certain traditional Chinese medicine formulations like Wenxin Keli and ShenSong YangXin capsules have shown positive effects in managing arrhythmias and improving heart rhythm.

Radiofrequency Ablation

Radiofrequency ablation is a minimally invasive procedure that involves two key steps. First, a catheter is inserted into the heart to locate the origin of the abnormal heartbeats through a process called intracardiac electrophysiological study. Once the source is identified, energy is delivered via the catheter to heat and destroy the specific heart tissue responsible for the irregular impulses. This effectively interrupts the abnormal electrical pathways and restores normal heart rhythm.

Success Rate and Considerations

Radiofrequency ablation is a well-established and highly effective treatment option, with a high success rate and relatively low risk. It is especially recommended for patients who do not respond well to medication or experience significant symptoms from premature beats.

It is important to note that treatment plans should be tailored to each individual. Always consult a licensed physician for a proper diagnosis and personalized medical advice.
