Under normal conditions, if a patient with myocarditis maintains a regular body temperature, their heart rate typically ranges between 60 and 100 beats per minute. However, during an acute phase of the illness, especially when a patient experiences significant fever, the heart rate often increases beyond 100 beats per minute.

Heartbeat Irregularities in Myocarditis

One of the key symptoms associated with myocarditis is irregular heart rhythm. Patients may experience frequent ventricular premature beats, including bigeminy or even trigeminy. These irregularities often occur alongside tachycardia, which can lead to sensations of chest tightness, shortness of breath, palpitations, and discomfort in the chest area.

Additional Symptoms and Complications

In more severe cases, symptoms can expand beyond the cardiovascular system. Patients may suffer from fever, dizziness, headaches, fatigue in the limbs, and generalized body aches. These symptoms collectively suggest a more aggressive progression of myocarditis. A heart rate consistently above 100 beats per minute is often considered a critical sign of worsening condition and should be evaluated by a medical professional immediately.
